Lacoste

Rene Lacoste (2nd July 1904 - 12th October 1996) was a legend in tennis and was nicknamed the alligator. Rene had a crocodile embroidered on the blazer he wore on the courts. In 1933 he set up a company to manufacture the logo embroidered shirt which he designed. Possibly the first time a brand name appeared on the outside of an article of clothing!
